New Year New Goals
Happy New Year! I can still say that as long as it’s still January right?! With it being the New Year we are suppose to embrace goals and change, something I haven’t fully ran with before. But 2018 for us has already brought a major change: I am officially a stay-at-home-mom!
This was a goal my husband and I had talked about wanting to happen a little ways down the road. Specifically after babe #2. Obviously I only have one little one at the moment so this this goal was moved up a bit. There were so many reasons for us to do this along with many worries. One of the main worries was of course living off of only one reliable income. In my attempt to help in this area is where My Backroad Heart comes in along with a few more plans I have up my sleeve.
I love getting creative and seeing tangible progress. I have quite a variety of interests including handwriting and a passion for party planning but sewing has been in the forefront of my mind lately.
So in-lew of the New Year spirit I have decided to open up shop! I have some great pieces I am putting together that I can’t wait to share with you all SOON. I plan to bring to the table fun, beautiful, practical items for every day life that have some western and some country chic flare. I am currently in the process of picking out the perfect type of fabrics and tweaking a few patterns to have them just the way I want them before I step into the show ring.
I Got It From My Mama
I grew up not fully appreciating all the sewing my mom did for us as kids. But I now see how awesome we had it. Adorable outfits that only we had (usually with a heavy influence of equine) made with love and a full bobbin.
My mom seems like she has always had a talent with a needle and thread. She has made a little bit of everything from quilts to 1800s women’s wear and even made ALL my bridesmaids dresses.
It’s so fun going to the fabric store, picking out things and throwing around ideas. I love having my mom as a guide and mentor and consider myself lucky to have her just down the road from me available for my seemingly never-ending questions. So thank you mom, I couldn’t be doing this without you.
I can’t wait to get to creative and share what I have in store with you. I hope you check back often to see what’s happenin’. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter and you can be the first to know!
